A Metamorphosis at Play

It was the afternoon of May 16, 2024, when I, a newly employed intern at Triangle Loft walked into their fifth-floor canvas in the heart of the Meatpacking district. A canvas I’d previously toured, an open industrial space with thin exposed antique iron columns and open-brick walls, now being transformed for a company’s Loyalty Night Live.

A metamorphosis of sorts was at play. Along the right walls of the southern side of the space, a stage took its place, adorned with five plush chairs for each of the event’s panelists, and behind the stage a branded wall that boasted the client’s graphic for the night. To my left, a balloon arch was in the works, pink, purple, blue, and green, to suit the night’s theme, so meticulously arranged to exude a playful yet professional aura, courtesy of Balloons Ink.

On its way in the single elevator leading up to this space, the arcade games would be the highlight of the night’s decorations. They were placed right under the balloon arch to create a gaming zone that perfectly elevated the aesthetic for the night.

Karen Genauer, the creator at Triangle Loft was pacing by, when she took a second to turn to me and welcome me into the intensely fast-paced environment that was the day of a load-in. I’d quickly get started, helping arrange the chairs in front of the stage, and from just that, it was apparent to me that every detail of this night was thought out from the way the chairs were carefully arranged to allow for an unobstructed view of the stage, to the glassware used at the bar.

Branding was integral and everywhere. The client’s signature ‘R’ adorned the walls, the balloons, the elevator, and everything else that was a part of the night, courtesy of @PrintByPop. The space was thoughtfully set up in the hour leading up to the event, but the work was far from over.

Small bites and drinks were handed out before the panel started. Once the panel began, food service was paused to ensure the discussions remained the focus of attention. After the panel, food service resumed, featuring fish tacos, beef sliders, and a harvest table, all prepared and served by the in-house team at Triangle Loft’s production wing, Yofi Productions.

The night winded down around eleven, and branded mints and cookies from Levain were handed out as a courtesy of REAKTOR themselves, needless to say, the attendees left the space feeling more than delighted.

As the city lights danced, I realized I had witnessed a transformation. Not just of the space, but of myself. Triangle Loft had become more than walls and beams, it was a catalyst for change. And so, my first day at Triangle Loft was etched in my memory, a night when loyalty ceased to be a concept and became an experience.
