The Challenges and Triumphs of Opening Our New Event Venue in NoHo

A New Chapter in the Heart of NoHo

In the five years since Triangle Loft first opened its doors in the Meatpacking District of NYC, we’ve experienced our fair share of ups and downs, and learned countless lessons along the way. From navigating through COVID and administrative changes to shifts in the event marketplace, every chapter has shaped who we are today.
But perhaps our biggest learning curve came when we opened our newest meeting and event venue in NoHo. Located at Lafayette Street and Astor Place, this beautifully curated loft and rooftop embody everything we love about New York—energy, creativity, and connection.

Designing a Versatile Loft and Rooftop Venue

Our new event venue in downtown Manhattan embodies the creative rhythm of NoHo while offering the refined ease of a modern loft. Sunlight pours through 10½-foot steel-trimmed windows, illuminating an open floor plan and filling it with warmth, texture, and life.
Just above, the rooftop unveils a hidden oasis, elevated above the city streets and framed by four beautifully restored water towers. Together the loft and rooftop serve as the perfect backdrop for intimate gatherings, brand activations, and unforgettable celebrations. From corporate meetings and product launches to weddings and private events, the space was designed to adapt beautifully. Our mission has always been to create a turnkey yet bespoke event experience—and this venue captures that vision perfectly, but it took some adapting and hard work to get there.

Behind the Scenes: Turning Challenges Into Opportunities

1. Navigating New Regulations

The challenges began before we could even open our oors. A new location meant new precincts, new permits, and new partnerships. From securing catering permits to Temporary Place of Assembly (TPA) approvals, and understanding district-specific guidelines, we faced an administrative learning curve that ultimately strengthened our operational foundation and helped us build valuable local relationships.

2. Perfecting the Design

We kept design and functionality at the forefront of every curated detail—from furniture and lighting to dishware and service pieces. Because every client’s event is unique, we had to ensure that everything brought into the venue was modular and mobile. Every item—from tables to planters—can be easily moved between areas, allowing for full flexibility and creativity in layout and design. The bars become buffets and the buffets become registration tables. For items that must be rented, through trial and error we have gathered knowledge on what pieces from local vendors that not only work in the space, but look stunning.

3. Mastering the Event Logistics

Finally the day of our first event arrived, and we discovered new pitfalls! With a larger freight elevator, our setup and breakdown processes evolved. While this made certain aspects easier, such as having several vendors load in at once, we still had to develop a load-in–friendly plan that protected our space and it’s natural wood floors. We experimented with flooring-friendly wheels until discovering the ideal method for preservation: a combination of ram boards and plastic-coated wheels.
The learning curve did not end at load in, we had to test countless registration and check-in layouts, refining guest flow from arrival into Loft 7, through Coat Check, and onward into the main event area to ensure seamless movement throughout every phase of the experience. Then there is the flow onto the rooftop. To lock the elevator or not. To use the stairs or not. Our guests taught us well, and we now use both the stairs and elevator to allow seamless movement from floor to floor.

4. Same Staff, Different Venue

Our culinary and service teams transitioned into the new space with the same dedication, creativity, and warmth that have always defined our hospitality. At our original location, we worked within a full commercial kitchen equipped with every tool needed to bring each menu and cocktail to life.
At Lafayette Street, we learned to adapt out service to our new home. With our oven nestled in Loft 7’s kitchen and our stove, smoker, and rooftop herb garden above, we discovered a new kind of connection between the kitchen, the space, and our guests. What began as an adjustment quickly became an evolution—one that deepened our craft and strengthened our sense of collaboration.
Today, the process feels more intentional and immersive. Clients often join us in the culinary experience as we incorporate rooftop-grown herbs and vegetables into each dish—a reflection of the space’s creativity, adaptability, and true New York spirit.

Growth, Gratitude, and Great Events

The growing pains that came with opening our Lafayette Street event venue have been worth every moment. Each lesson learned ensures that our clients enjoy a seamless, elevated experience from start to finish.
Today, the space feels like home. And as we host everything from executive meetings to wedding celebrations, we’re reminded that every event—big or small—is an opportunity to create something extraordinary.
We’re proud to welcome you to our NoHo event venue, where hospitality meets artistry, and every event tells a story.
