It’s hard to believe I’ve only been an Event Coordinator at Triangle Loft for just under four months—because my connection to this event space started years ago.
I first met Karen while working at Starbucks. Her and Yofi (our four legged director of security) would often drop by, and one day Karen offered me a position on the serving staff at Triangle Loft. This was back when it was just our Meatpacking location. As a full-time college student pursuing my BFA in Acting, it was the perfect flexible opportunity to gain experience in the hospitality industry.
From Server to Bartender
For about a year, I worked as a server at weddings, corporate events, and private celebrations, seeing how an empty venue could transform through great event planning. Eventually, I shared with Karen that I wanted to learn bartending. She enthusiastically supported the idea, giving me a chance to start as a barback so I could learn the ins and outs of the craft. The experienced bartenders on our team were incredibly generous with their knowledge, sharing tips and tricks honed over years behind the bar.
After understanding the barback role, I began working events with beer and wine bars, slowly building my skills and confidence. Before long, I was taking on events with a full-bar, applying everything I had learned. I discovered a love for the fast-paced, creative side of bartending.
A New Chapter
This past April, with my college graduation looming, Karen asked me about my post-grad plans. I told her I intended to find a full-time job while continuing to pursue my acting career. Without missing a beat, she asked if I’d be interested in working at Triangle Loft full-time. We set a meeting to discuss the opportunity, and—just one day after graduating—I officially stepped into my new role as an Event Coordinator.
Looking Ahead
These past two months have been a crash course in event production—from vendor coordination and timeline management to client communication and on-site execution. Every event is different, whether it’s a product launch, corporate meeting, or intimate private dinner.
Under Karen’s mentorship, I’m learning not just logistics, but how to create seamless guest experiences that make events unforgettable. From serving coffee to coordinating full-scale events, this journey has been more rewarding than I could have imagined, and I am looking forward to where my time with Triangle Loft takes me next!
